Covid 19 update – 27th March 2020

The safety and well-being of our staff continues to be our key priority as the covid 19 virus situation throughout the UK and world evolves. We plan to continue operating while this is possible, in order to satisfy customer demand, particularly the supermarkets throughout the UK where demand has grown in recent weeks.

Lees of Scotland has introduced a range of additional measures at our factory in Coatbridge to ensure we meet the safety guidelines advised by the UK and Scottish Governments and that social distancing is maintained through-out our operation. As well as enhanced hygiene procedures within the factory, some of the safety measures we have introduced include:

  • Removal of our backshift to remove overlap of workers during shift changes
  • Reduce production days from 5 to 4
  • Wherever possible, staff have been asked to work from home
  • Running fewer lines at any one time to limit numbers in factory
  • Reduce running speed of lines to allow us to adhere to social distancing guidelines with fewer employees on each line
  • Strict controls on employee numbers entering and leaving changing areas
  • Clear markings on production floor to retain 2m between workers and separation screens between employees where required
  • Closing down of the factory shop and staff canteen

I would like to thank all of the Lees staff for the commitment they have given to Lees during these difficult times.

Clive Miquel, Chief Executive
