Jannetta’s Gelateria, a St Andrews institution on South Street, has been revealed as Scotland’s favourite ice-cream shop. The ice cream parlour scooped the top prize in our 2014 Golden Cone awards, a competition run by The Waverley Bakery and the Sunday Mail newspaper.
Jannetta’s beat all other ice-cream hot spots across Scotland to be awarded the coveted Golden Cone Award after Sunday Mail readers sent in their votes and stories about their favourite place to enjoy ice-cream.
A shortlist of the top 10 destinations was announced in the Sunday Mail in May and it was up to a panel of judges including Heart radio star and Seven Days columnist Cat Harvey, actress and writer Libby McArthur and ice cream industry expert Jean Pearce to decide who would be awarded the much sought after title.
The Golden Cone Award has once again been a massive success and we are delighted by the number of people who took the time to send in their votes and stories in support of their favourite ice-cream shop. The overwhelming response really does prove Scotland’s love for ice-cream.
Congratulations to Jannetta’s and we hope that this will see thousands of new customers queuing at their shop to try their delicious, award winning ice-cream!
